Tooth Extractions

Tooth extractions are a common dental procedure that involve removing a tooth from its socket in the bone. This can be done for a variety of reasons, including removing a tooth that is damaged beyond repair, or to make room for orthodontic treatments. The procedure is usually done by a dentist or oral surgeon, and is usually done under local anesthesia.

During a tooth extraction, the dentist uses specialized instruments to loosen the tooth and then remove it from its socket. After the tooth is removed, the dentist may place a gauze pad over the socket to stop the bleeding. The dentist may also recommend an antibiotic to prevent infection. A pain reliever may also be prescribed to help alleviate any discomfort that is experienced in the days following the procedure.
